We’re back at the Celtic Inn this Saturday 6 February and we’re taking a piece of rock history with us – a 1979 Moog Prodigy synthesiser.

Last time we played the Celtic, we didn’t take the Moog due to space considerations. We’re not leaving it behind this time. Our keyboardist brought the synthesiser to New Zealand from America in 2005. He’s had it for 36 years and still loves playing it. It’s got a big meaty sound that’s useful for a lot of our songs, but it’s the waveforms produced by the analog oscillators that really make it stand out as an instrument. It means we can play songs like Donna Summer’s I Feel Love and stellar*’s Violent without any sequencing or backing tracks, which is great because we only play live music.

We don’t know if there’s ever been a vintage Moog at the Celtic Inn before.  We do know there will be one there on Saturday 6 February.  If we have to squeeze together to make room for it, that’s all part of the fun.

Come on down and join in the squeeze.
